In The Great Gatsby, F. Scot Fitzgerald portrays the idea of “Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it; the more a man has, the more he wants”, which directly contradicts the common interpretation of the American dream.
It's pretty clear Focused on the satisfaction on money I think its arguable since some people believe that happiness can bring more excitement than that. Its analytical Creative..not really
I think it is not creative, I think it can be improved by being more original. The thesis is somewhat analytical and can elaborate more on the analysis. The focus is clear as it is focused on money and it is debatable.
I think it has the potential to be a really good thesis. It is definitely an opinion. I think you can go on to say how the lack of satisfaction from money explained the actions of a certain character.
I doesn't make sense whatsoever!!!!!!!!!! I think it should be: "The American dream is an empty, meaningless concept. It is merely an illusion made up by the rich.
Clear: It is in no way clear at all. A professor with a doctorate of philosophy in English Language Arts, paired with a police detective with a Master's degree in psychology could not comprehend this poorly conveyed thesis. Focused: Yes. It only conveys , albeit a crappy, single idea. Arguable: Yes, most patriots would disagree. Analytical: Somewhat Creative: Sure
Future is unpredictable; one could rise in a night but fall in te next day.
ReplyDeleteHow about fall in a night but rise in the next day :D
DeleteSuccess within a day may fall within the next.
DeleteFuture is unpredictable: success within a day may fall within the next day.

DeleteJay Gatsby shows that future is unpredictable: success within a day may fall within the next.
DeleteMoney cannot buy everything, including love.
ReplyDeleteIt's not creative

ReplyDeleteCreativity? NO
Deletedude, I wasn't focusing on creativity. You have to focus on the meaningful meaning inside this quote. Feel it :3
DeleteIn order to make this thesis more focused, I would change to "Gatsby who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away."
DeleteWait never mind, how about "Gatsby who trims himself to suit Daisy will soon whittle himself away."
Deletewow that's really creative and original
DeleteThe possession of materialistic wealth doesn't guarantee happiness.
ReplyDeleteJay Gatsby's experience proves that the possession of materialistic wealth doesn't guarantee personal happiness.
DeleteThe use of the word "materialistic" enhances the thesis very much. Very creative.
DeleteThe pursuit of happiness is an endless endeavor, and cannot be fulfilled even with money or love.

DeleteIt isn't really connect to The Great Gatsby.
revised: The empty pursuit of pleasure doesn't have a limit and sometimes Gatsby focus too much on the dreams rather than the present.
Grammar.
DeleteDoesn't include the great gatsby.
It's fairly clear yet vague.
It should be arguable.

Don't stuck in the past memories.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a thesis. I think?
DeleteIt's clear, okay focused, arguable, potentially analytical, and creative.
Please change this into a complete thesis.

Deleterevised:
In the Great Gatsby, Gatsby is stuck in the past memories and can't move on.

The satisfaction of Money is limited, as the joy brought by money and materialistic objects are only temporarily
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty clear
DeleteFocused on the satisfaction on money
I think its arguable since some people believe that happiness can bring more excitement than that.
Its analytical
Creative..not really
I think it is not creative, I think it can be improved by being more original. The thesis is somewhat analytical and can elaborate more on the analysis. The focus is clear as it is focused on money and it is debatable.
Deleteits very arguable but not very creative, but very centralized and focused.
DeleteI think it has the potential to be a really good thesis. It is definitely an opinion. I think you can go on to say how the lack of satisfaction from money explained the actions of a certain character.

DeleteThis is a fairly good thesis.
DeleteA hackneyed expression.
DeleteTom is out-of-line when he gets mad at Daisy's betrayal
DeleteAs you can see by the story of The Great Gatsby, "happiness" obtained through questionable means is not true happiness.
ReplyDelete-It is not quite clear: what questionable means?
Delete-focused: not really, 'questionable means' is very general.
-arguable: It would be more arguable if the means of obtaining happiness was specified
-analytic: yes details can be found in book and related to real life.
-creative: yes
Looks can be deceiving.
ReplyDeleteHappiness comes with a price.
I think you can merge these two lines and make it a stronger thesis. :D
Deleteuse the second thesis
DeleteI think it might be too vague
DeleteWhat do you mean by price? like money?
Delete^ i second
DeleteIn F. Scott Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby, love is thwarted by power.
